Champs Results Out Now!
Brilliant weather greeted the racers as they arrived in the Tweed Valley on Friday afternoon ready for what was to be a long hard and hot race over the weekend. A sharp drop in temperature over night meant that the DarkSide racers started out in the cold on the Brunswick river and for the first bike leg in Nightcap NP before the day dawned and the sun crept over the trees as they continued to trek, bike and paddle their way over the Nightcap Range to Clarrie Hall Dam and back to Mebbin.
A huge congratulations to Team Mountain Designs who cracked the whole course in a time of 13:04:18 and Team Rogue who came in second overall in 14:11:09. There's some fantastic footage so keep an eye out for some memorable photos and video from Lachlan Ryan Video Productions coming soon.

Soldier On is a newly established charity that supports those Australian servicemen and women who have been wounded on contemporary operations. Adventure Racing and Training are proven to help aid successful physical and psychological rehabilitation. It will also present an opportunity for veterans to raise money for Soldier On.
Soldier On and In 2 Adventure believe that Australia has a social responsibility to ensure that wounded soldier care is world’s best. Our support will help the wounded achieve the same goals and dreams they had prior to their injuries. Soldier On does this by getting the community involved by fundraising for our wounded. Money fundraised and donated will go to St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital and The Wesley hospital in Brisbane. Both hospitals directly support the rehabilitation of Soldiers. Bronson Horan Soldier On Ambassador

Bronson has been a commissioned officer in both the US and Australian military for over 15 years. Initially with the US Army 10th Mountain Division, he then spent over 10 years in both US and Australian Special Forces where he successfully trained and led up to 100 Special Forces operators and 500 indigenous troops on combat missions.
Bronson was severely wounded 2008 by an improvised explosive device that also killed his friend Lieutenant Michael Fussell, during a foot patrol in Afghanistan. Major Horan, lost his sense of taste and smell and suffers reduced hearing, vision, balance and concentration as a result of his injures. Bronson has turned what was a tragic personal experience, into an opportunity to help other service personnel
Bronson describes his experience of being injured, and his work as a Soldier On ambassador. “There is great sense of loss of what you used to be, I want to help these folks to re-engage with the community, to help them realise the same goals they had prior to their injuries. My mission is to give them self worth again, to empower and inspire them”
So join us at Heysen's Restaurant at the resort on Saturday evening for Presentations, Fun One Prizes, A few drinks at the bar and a fantastic meal as well as the opportunity to share Bronson's inspirational story.
Ever wondered how the top placegetters at the Mountain Designs ARA seem to know exactly where they are going? Well wonder no more.
One of the main skills of adventure racing involves being able to navigate using only a map and your wits. Mountain bike orienteering, or MTBO, is just like the riding component of any AR and involves navigating a course collecting controls in the fastest time possible.
Alternatively if you are a more social rider, you can go around at a more leisurely pace on your own or as a team. You choose your speed and the best route to get between controls.
So if you want to get in some last minute training before the MD ARA, or are keen to try out a new sport, why not give MTBO a go?
